Why Hospitality?
Hospitality, Travel and Tourism is the basis of life really, isn't it? In the past 20+ years I've run shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, weddings, events, outside catering companies; I've waited on, cleaned dishes, answered phones, managed teams of staff, written menus, written websites, cleaned bedrooms, poured wine...You get the idea - it's intense but it's also a huge part of all of our lives every day even if we don't work in it. It needs to have the right branding, the right copy to see it excel. I love what it means and brings to a person. The right meal, the long-awaited night away, the perfect pastry can really brighten up a day.
Now whilst the waiter, barrista, manager, owner, housekeeper, chef and everyone is creating that perfect experience for the customers there is a lot to see and do behind the scenes. Menu creations, accounts, ordering, last minute cancellations and bookings as well as keeping up with social media, advertising, marketing, emails, newsletters and so much more.
It's exhausting and is one of the reasons so many companies don't gain new business, why many owners are constantly exhausted and why they fall out of love with the businesses that they created, ironically because they love the industry and what it means to so many.
